UPDATE ON BRAE LOCH RD DEVELOPMENT

UPDATE ON BRAE LOCH RD DEVELOPMENT

Greetings and Salutations!
I hope your summer has been a good one so far.
First off let me thank all those who participated in our past efforts to keep our neighborhood free of unwanted development. If you sent an email, a letter, or made a phone call to your local representatives we salute you! All participation is welcome and appreciated. You DO make a difference.
This is an update just to let you know what is going on with the developments on Brae Loch Rd. We are not opposed to change – we just want change that makes sense.
Currently, the land on Brae Loch Rd. is still owned by the Van Dixhorn Family. This is the same developer that attempted to put a business on Brae Loch Rd. Since that time they have made a deal with Carris development. The Van Dixhorn’s still own the deed on the property, but are looking to the Carris developer for new development on Brae Loch Rd.

Currently, the Carris development has submitted plans for a zoning change from R1 to R4-PUD. They want to put 34 units (Town homes) on 4.18 acres of property. This does not fit and has no benefits to the residents or surrounding communities.
There are many things wrong with this plan, but just off the top of my head……

None of this would lower anyone’s taxes one bit, and traffic would take a major upswing on Brae Loch. The place where they want to put this does not allow for such a BARRACKS approach - 34 units that would house multiple families with children and cars?
Traffic (30 units x 2 cars each) on Brae Loch and around town/county, school
kids/taxes, infrastructure impacts (fire truck access, garbage pick-up
mobility, no sewer).
What does it bring to Grayslake? Why is it desirable? Why would someone live
there in a cramped, difficult to service place? What is Grayslake's
requirement for ingress/egress (entrance and exit) for developments?

These are just a few things that are wrong with this plan. Also, one should consider the fact that this is still land owned by the Van Dixhorn family who received their loan through the bank where Mayor Perry works. This is a clear conflict of interest and highly unethical.
IF this were to ever come before the board the mayor would
have a serious conflict of interest here. It is his bank that benefits from
this transaction.
Currently, this plan is set to go before the Planning Board Commission, but we are unaware as to of when. The next meeting time for the Planning Commission is Monday, August 13th, 2007. We are asking that people contact their local representatives and/or send mailings. We have provided SAE and letters for your convenience. If you would rather write your own letter please feel free to do so.
We feel that it is best to contact local representatives at this early stage.
